What is MLDP2
MLDP2 will guide planning decisions in Midlothian for 10-years, from 2027-2037.
It sets out where development should and should not happen, including plans for new homes and employment opportunities, while protecting important environmental and historic assets. The plan aims to support the creation of sustainable, inclusive and accessible places across Midlothian.
What to expect
By completing a survey or attending a drop-in you can:
- Share your views on proposed planning policies, and housing and employment land allocations.
- Influence the final Local Development Plan which will be adopted by Midlothian Council in 2027.

How to get involved
The Proposed MLDP2 is available to view online using the survey link, or as a paper copy at Fairfield House reception, 8 Lothian Road, Dalkeith, EH22 3AA and in all libraries.
