What to do
Glass bottles and jars can be recycled in your kerbside glass recycling box as part of your kerbside recycling service or at our network of Recycling Centres and Points.
Please remove all corks, metal lids, or plastic tops before recycling. Put these in your grey bin.
If using your local Recycling Point, place blue glass bottles and jars in the green glass collection bank.
Window pane glass or mirrors, broken glass tumblers, light bulbs, spectacles, ceramics or glass ovenware such as Pyrex-dishes cannot be collected for recycling. These are made to a different 'recipe' to glass bottles and jars, and melt at different temperatures, which means they cannot be recycled together. Pyrex ovenware, for example, withstands high temperatures in your oven. This means it needs very high temperatures to melt it for recycling.
Never put broken glass in your kerbside recycling box. Instead, dispose of carefully (e.g. wrapped in newspaper) in your general waste bin.
