Bus trial between Pathhead and Penicuik
800 community bus service
From March 2025 we have been trialling a bus service connecting our Midlothian communities from east to west.
Key locations along the route include:
- Vogrie Country Park
- Tesco, Dalkeith
- Auchendinny
- Midlothian train stations
- Midlothian Community Hospital
- Straiton Retail Park
Free during trial period
During the trial the service is free as it is being delivered using some funding from the council's dividend from Lothian buses.
If it becomes a full service, fares would be in line with other Lothian bus services.

Passengers can hail the bus on some sections of the route if no designated bus stop.
* Afternoon service does not run on a Friday.
