Easthouses Primary School is scheduled to open on Wednesday 14 August 2024.

The facilities

The new primary, on the site of the old Newbattle High School, will be able to accommodate 459 children. There will be 16 places to support children with Additional Support Needs (ASN) from across Midlothian, and 80 pre-school places.  

Two wings will be linked by a shared space with dining facilities, a multi-purpose hall, an arts/movement space, offices and support facilities.
Local people will be able to book the external multi-use games area with synthetic surface outside.

For any specific queries regarding enrolment or pupil placement, which will be based on factors including the catchment area and if siblings are enrolled at the school, please contact easthouses.ps@midlothian.gov.uk

Easthouses Primary school hours

The hours will be confirmed before the school opens but the proposed standard hours are:

• Monday to Thursday: 8.50am - 3.20pm
• Friday: 8.50am - 12.00pm

Safe routes to school

Safe routes will be in place before the school opens. 

Uniform

More information about the uniform will be available before the school opens. A school badge has been chosen.

You may be eligible for a school clothing grant.

Free school meals

All P1 to P5 children in Scotland get free school meals and parents/carers can apply for free school meals, if eligible, for their P6 or P7 child.

Before and after-school care

Out of school childcare is not a statutory education service except for those who meet specific criteria, however the new head teacher, Jennifer Allison, will explore options for breakfast and after school childcare with community groups and parents/carers.

Open days and tours

Open days and tours will be scheduled prior to the opening date, for parents, pupils and the community to explore the school. More details will be shared when we have them.
