If your child's date of birth is between:
- 16 August 2019 and 29 February 2020 (inclusive)
your child is due to start Primary 1 in August 2024. You can use this form to apply to defer their school entry until August 2025.
- If your child was born before 16 August 2019, do not fill in this form. Instead contact your current Early Learning and Childcare setting or childminder to discuss what is best for your child.
- If your child’s date of birth is 1 March 2020 or later, they are due to begin school in August 2025. Therefore you do not need to complete this form.

Before you begin
- Your child must register at their catchment school for P1, even if you are applying for deferred entry.
- If your child attends an early learning and childcare setting or a childminder, we recommend that you discuss deferred entry with the staff before you apply.
