Waste service updates

All bin collections are running as normal. However, if ever your street's bins are not emptied, please leave them out and we will collect them in the morning. No need to contact us.

If your neighbour’s bins have been emptied but yours hasn’t, and your bin wasn’t contaminated, it may have been missed. Please complete the form below and we’ll be in touch to arrange a collection.

360 litre grey bins

If you have been advised that you are eligible for a larger 360 litre grey bin, we are now in the process of delivering the replacement bins over the next few weeks.

Changes to your kerbside recycling collection services

The new recycling service has started. All bin collections are running as normal. You can check your bin collection dates using our postcode checker and an annual online calendar is now available.

We have changed how we collect your recycling:

  1. You have a NEW green bin for paper, card and cardboard
  2. Your blue bin is only be for plastic bottles, tubs and trays, steel and aluminium cans, and cartons.
  3. There may be a change to the day we collect your blue, green and grey bins. These will be emptied on a three-weekly cycle.

Delivery of your new Green bin

  • Green bins have been delivered between mid-January and 23 March 2026. If your bin has not arrived email: greenbin@midlothian.gov.uk
  • Green bins will be delivered to the boundary of residential properties. In the case of an assisted pullout service, bins will be delivered directly to where they are stored.
