ASN school transport
ASN travel application process
All children and young people with Additional Support Needs (ASN) must have an up-to-date ASN travel application completed each academic year in order to receive home-to-school transport.
This annual process ensures that:
- Applications are assessed fairly and consistently in line with the council’s transport policy.
- Transport arrangements reflect each child’s current needs, health, and wellbeing.
- Resources are allocated safely, efficiently, and equitably across all eligible pupils.
Please note:
- Completing an application does not automatically guarantee transport.
- All applications are subject to assessment against the council’s policy and availability of provision.
- If your application is successful, an ASN Travel Passport must also be completed before transport can be arranged. The Passport provides essential information about your child’s medical, physical, social, or emotional needs and is shared with transport providers to ensure their safety and wellbeing during every journey.
- Transport arrangements are reviewed regularly and may be adjusted if your child’s needs or circumstances change.
Apply
We strongly recommend that parents and carers speak with their child’s school or provision before completing this application. For best practice, applications should be completed with the support and guidance of the school or provision to ensure that all relevant information about the child or young person’s needs is accurate, up to date, and fully reflected.
Apply for ASN travel assistance
As this is the first year this process has been introduced, there may be some initial delays in responding with application outcomes and transport allocations. We will make every effort to adhere to the timelines outlined in the application and will keep applicants informed of any delays where they arise.
