Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification
The Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) is the industry standard for leading unsupervised lessons for swimmers of all levels.
The course is divided over several days with 32 hours of practical teaching and 32 hours of theory.
This qualification sits on the Scottish Qualifications and Credit Framework (SQCF Level 7).
Course resources are administrated via the online system, Brightspace.
Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements before starting the course:
- Be a member of Scottish Swimming
- Be 16 years of age at the point of booking
- Hold a valid PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) membership for children at the time of the course. Your PVG must be registered with us - we cannot accept a PVG held through another organisation
Cost - 2026
- £600 (you may be able to apply for a subsidy)
- PVG - £59 for new Children's PVG, £18 for an existing PVG for Children linked to a different organisation.
