Councillors' small pots get smaller

Small pots of money from local improvements

This will save £54,000.

Currently each councillor gets £10,000 capital (for projects such as park improvements) and £3,000 of revenue (for small grants to local groups etc) each year. Councillors agreed at a full council meeting on Tuesday to give up the revenue share of the funding.

In addition, there are currently significant sums carried over from previous years of which approximately £200,000 of capital is uncommitted and £50,000 of revenue remains uncommitted.

A spokesman said: “By not allocating the revenue part of the funding, the council will save £54,000 a year.”
