Midlothian congratulated on International Women's Day
As we mark International Women’s Day tomorrow (Friday), COSLA (the representative voice of Scottish local government) has formally congratulated seven councils, including Midlothian, taking part in a groundbreaking pilot accreditation programme ‘Equally Safe at Work.’
Closing the gap
Working with ‘Close the Gap’, Midlothian, Aberdeen City, Highland, North Lanarkshire, Perth & Kinross, Shetland and South Lanarkshire Councils are piloting the approach. This will see these councils aligning employers’ practice with the Equally Safe at Work standards across the areas of leadership; data; flexible working; occupational segregation; workplace culture and violence against women.
Percentage of the workforce
Councils across Scotland employ 244,000 people, with 67% of those being women.
