Council’s small grants scheme opens for applications from 1 November

Midlothian Council’s small grants scheme opens for applications from Monday 1 November.  Applications are welcome from constituted community groups, charities, or social enterprises for grants of up to £3,000.

Community projects

The funding is for a 1-year period, for community projects aimed at improving the quality of life for local residents. Grant funding can be used for things like volunteer expenses, running costs, start-up costs for new projects, staff costs, buying equipment and feasibility studies.

Local priorities

Applicants must also demonstrate how these help meet the priorities of the Single Midlothian Plan – to reduce inequalities in learning outcomes; reduce inequalities in health; reduce inequalities in economic circumstances, and help reduce Midlothian carbon emissions to net zero.

Key funding

“Volunteers, local groups and charities provide invaluable support within our local communities,” said the council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Councillor Russell Imrie. “Our small grants programme helps provide them with the key funding they need to take forward local projects and provide support which can make a real difference to the lives of local people.”

How to apply

  • Application forms and guidance documents go live on our grant funding pages from Monday 1 November.
  • Applications close on Friday 17 December. Funding decisions will be announced in February 2022.
