Privilege Transport

Eligibility
A privilege place may be provided to a pupil who:

• Does not qualify for free school transport due to not meeting distance criteria or attending a school outside their designated catchment area.
• Attends a school served by an existing Midlothian Council transport service.
• Can be accommodated without without incurring additional costs to Midlothian Council.

Availability and withdrawal of places
Privilege places are only available if there are surplus seats on the contracted vehicle. These places are subject to annual reapplication and are not guaranteed for each new academic year.

Apply for a place
All privilege places must be applied for annually from September once transport arrangements for eligible pupils have been finalised.

Parents, guardians or carers remain responsible for taking their child to school until a decision is made.
