Bonnyrigg Health Centre – Maintenance Work Update

Published: Thursday, 22nd June 2023

Building works at Bonnyrigg Health Centre continue, but pharmacy and GP services based in the building are open as normal.

Despite building works at Bonnyrigg Health Centre, please be assured that the pharmacy and the three GP practices based in the building, Dalhousie, Strathesk and Quarryfoot, are still open and patients can still make an appointment or access prescription services as normal.

We continue to work towards as early a return of services to Bonnyrigg Health Centre as possible. Thank you for the patience and co-operation you have shown, which is very much appreciated.

Following the detection of Legionella, a great deal of work has been taking place to replace parts of the water system infrastructure, disinfect the system and test the water.

Levels of Legionella are decreasing, so we are moving in the right direction, but more work and a subsequent repeat testing cycle is required before services can be moved back in safely.

As things stand therefore, we will have clearer picture on the timescale for a possible phased return of services once we have that latest set of test results, due in early July.

On a practical level two toilets are now available for the use of any staff and patients. These are located in Strathesk practice.

Please be assured that we continue to re-appraise the overall situation on a fortnightly basis and plan a phased return of services to the building as soon as it is safe to do so.

Fortunately, there have been no reported cases of Legionnaires’s infection among patients or staff.

We apologise for the inconvenience this situation may have caused you and thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
