Council to host inequality discussions
Midlothian Council is to host a series of group discussions around gender inequality.
Wee Circles project
At the full Council meeting on Tuesday, councillors approved a recommendation to take part in the Spotlight Wee Circles project established by the National Advisory Council on Women and Girls (NACWG).
Helping girls reach their potential
The NACWG advises the First Minister on what is needed to help women and girls reach their full potential.
Making things better
Midlothian’s Council Depute Leader, Cllr Jim Muirhead said: “As a council, we’re committed to improving opportunities for women and girls.
“Our plans to set up ‘Wee Circle’ groups will allow our staff, pupils, partner agencies and indeed anyone who wants to take part in discussions, a say on what are the biggest challenges we face locally to achieve gender equality.”
Each month, the NACWG puts a spotlight on a different gender equality issue and invites individuals and Wee Circle groups to talks about their experiences and ideas around the topic.
At the end of the discussion, participants complete the group feedback response form.
