Gritters out as snow forecast

The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice in Midlothian. Temperatures are forecast to drop below freezing this evening (Monday) with rain falling as sleet or snow from midnight and throughout the night.

Snow could lie

Up to 3 cms of snow could fall in lower lying areas of the county such as Dalkeith in the early hours of Tuesday with snowfalls of between 5cms and 10cms in higher areas such as Penicuik and Gorebridge.

Gritters out

All of our priority routes will be gritted from 4pm today (Monday) and all seven of our gritters will remain out overnight, if required.

Back out in morning again

All priority roads, including main roads and routes to schools and hospitals pavements and car parks will be gritted again from 5am on Tuesday.

Please take care as gritted roads and pavements are not necessarily ice free.
