Traffic restrictions in Dalkeith and Gorebridge on Saturday

Traffic restrictions will be in place in Dalkeith and Gorebridge on Saturday 25 June during four parades. Three of the parades are small with around 70 people expected to march in each but 4,000 marchers are due to take part in the parade in the afternoon in Dalkeith. Pedestrian and local access will be maintained. 

The council is working with the police and the organisers to keep disruption to a minimum. 

Dalkeith restrictions

Morning

Rolling road closures will be in place from 10am until around 10.45am to allow for around 70 marchers from the Midlothian District Loyal Orange Lodge No 52 to parade along:

  • Ramsay Croft Car Park
  • Old Edinburgh Road: Ramsay Croft Car Park to High Street junction
  • High Street: full length
  • Musselburgh Road: full length
  • Thornybank Roundabout: full length
  • Salters Road: Thornybank roundabout to Langsidehead Road
  • Langsidehead Road: Salters Road to Cowden Park 

Afternoon

Rolling road closures will be in place from 1pm to around 2.30pm to allow around 4,000 marchers taking part in the County Grand Lodge of The East Boyne Celebration Parade along: 

  • Langsidehead Road, Dalkeith: Cowden Park to Salters Road
  • Salters Road, Dalkeith: Langsidehead Road to Thornybank Roundabout
  • Thornybank Roundabout
  • Musselburgh Road, Dalkeith: full length
  • High Street, Dalkeith: Musselburgh Road to South Street
  • South Street, Dalkeith: Full length
  • Newmills Road, Dalkeith: South Street to Woodburn Road

Signs will be in place along the main roads leading into Dalkeith to allow people to avoid roads affected. A picture of the circular route is at the bottom of the page.

Cowden Road will be closed between 10.30am to 11.30am to allow buses to drop off marchers. 

Police and marshals will be in place to help with all traffic issues.

Gorebridge restrictions

Morning

Rolling road closures will be in place from 9am until around 10.30am while around 70 marchers from the Gorebridge Loyal Orange Lodge No 25 parade along:

  • Newbyres Avenue, Gorebridge: full length 
  • Burnside Road, Gorebridge: between Newbyres Avenue and Gore Avenue
  • Gore Avenue, Gorebridge: full length
  • Hunterfield Road, Gorebridge: between Gore Avenue and the leisure centre 

Afternoon

A second parade, again of around 70 marchers from the Gorebridge Loyal Orange Lodge No 25, will take place between 4pm and 4.30pm. During that time rolling road closures will be in place along: 

  • Newbyres Crescent, Gorebridge: full length
  • Gore Avenue, Gorebridge: between Newbyres Crescent and Hunterfield Road
  • Hunterfield Road, Gorebridge: between Gore Avenue and Main Street
  • Main Street, Gorebridge: full length
  • Station Road, Gorebridge: full length
  • Powdermill Brae, Gorebridge: between Station Road and Birkenside
  • Birkenside, Gorebridge: between Powdermill Brae and Roseberry Crescent
