Course information

Emergency First Aid at Work, SCQF Level 6 - Tuesday 8 September

This two-day course is ideal for people who are looking for work, volunteering or working in low-hazard environments like shops or offices.  This course is usually the minimum requirement in any workplace where a first aider is needed.  

Learning outcomes for attendees are:

  • CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and safe use of an AED (automated external defibrillator)
    • you must be able to get down and up from the floor unaided to participate
  • Casualty Assessment
  • Management of choking
  • Control of bleeding
  • Treatment of minor injuries

Dementia Informed and Communication Training - Thursday 17 September

This course will increase your awareness of dementia and help you develop understanding of dementia for the individual diagnosed as well as their family members too. 

Learning outcomes for attendees are:

  • What is dementia?
  • Symptoms of dementia
  • Different types of dementia
  • Develop a range of skills that can support those diagnosed and their families

Basic Car Maintenance

A four week course which aims to help you better understand vehicle safety, identify potential issues early and know when professional assistance may be needed.

Learning Outcomes for attendees are: 

  • Under-the-bonnet checks
  • Coolant and brake fluid levels
  • Tyre and light checks
  • Battery and brake maintenance
  • General vehicle safety checks
  • Basic cleaning and care

Aromatherapy and Massage - Wednesday 30 September

This taster course builds your confidence to join certified qualification courses.

Learning outcomes for attendees are:

  • Introduction to aromatherapy and blending your first essential oils
  • How to safely mix custom massage oils for relaxation
  • Practical massage techniques for the hands, arms, and feet. How to perform a relaxing, seated back and leg massage.
  • Stress-busting routines for the head, neck, and shoulders. Combining your skills into a full routine and exploring qualification pathways.

Course details:

  • Six week course running on Wednesday afternoons, 12.30pm - 2.00pm
  • 30 September, 7, 21 & 28 October, and 4 & 11 November

Rural Skills Short Course

Learn new skills to help you enter a career in farming and the rural sector.

Learning outcomes for attendees:

  • Tractor driving for beginners
  • All terrain vehicle driving training
  • Introduction to welding
