Awareness of Older People's Physical and Mental Health - Monday 24 August
This is an older person’s physical and mental awareness skills-based course with a range of practical hands-on sessions and discussion groups, covering stress management, distress reaction and de-escalation techniques.
Learning outcomes for attendees:
- Recognise the physical and mental health factors that affect older people in general including dementia
- Have an awareness of what it is like to live with effects of aging
- Have a simulated experience of some of the conditions that can affect older people
- Understand strategies for effective communication with older people

Adult Protection - Tuesday 1 September
This course equips those working with vulnerable adults with an introduction to adult support and protection. A range of learning techniques are used, including group discussions.
Learning outcomes for attendees are:
- Understanding of the legislation in place
- Appreciation of different types of different types of abuse
- What to look for, signs and indicators of abuse
- How to report concerns

Emergency First Aid at Work, SCQF Level 6 - Tuesday 8 September
This two-day course is ideal for people who are looking for work, volunteering or working in low-hazard environments like shops or offices. This course is usually the minimum requirement in any workplace where a first aider is needed.
Learning outcomes for attendees are:
- CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and safe use of an AED (automated external defibrillator)
- you must be able to get down and up from the floor unaided to participate
- Casualty Assessment
- Management of choking
- Control of bleeding
- Treatment of minor injuries

Dementia Informed and Communication Training - Thursday 17 September
This course will increase your awareness of dementia and help you develop understanding of dementia for the individual diagnosed as well as their family members too.
Learning outcomes for attendees are:
- What is dementia?
- Symptoms of dementia
- Different types of dementia
- Develop a range of skills that can support those diagnosed and their families
