The NCN 196 Cycle Route running from Penicuik to Dalkeith is a great connection both East and West and is easily accessible at Valleyfield Road and at Harpers Brae in Penicuik. Check it out on our interactive map.

What bus services can I use?

Penicuik is served by frequent bus Lothian Bus services 37, 47, 140, 141, connecting the town with Bilston, Loanhead and into Edinburgh.

Borders Bus service provides a great link South towards Leadburn and Galashiels and North towards Edinburgh. Hop on the Borders Bus number X62 from Penicuik Town centre or at Glencorse Barracks stop.

Note: Bicycles are not permitted on Lothian/East Lothian buses with the exception of folding bicycles if they can be stored in luggage areas on the bus.
