Parking restrictions

Midlothian offers a range of parking facilities to accommodate the needs of residents, businesses and visitors. Most streets have unrestricted parking, generally in residential or rural areas.

In busier town centres and where road safety is a concern (e.g. at junctions or schools) there are restrictions to manage parking, loading and unloading. These may include:

  • Yellow Lines
  • Time-limited parking bays
  • Loading bays
  • Disabled bays
  • Parking near schools

Please note parking charges and enforcement at the North Wynd and St Andrew Street car parks in Dalkeith are temporarily suspended but will restart on 1 January 2022. However on street parking restrictions remain in place throughout Midlothian.

To avoid a £60 penalty, you should comply with the restrictions indicated by the signs and lines on the street.
