Penicuik First helps Town Centre bloom

hangingbasketsThe new hanging baskets in Penicuik town centre look blooming marvellous and the number will double – thanks to help from Penicuik First.

At present, Midlothian Council provides 44 hanging baskets in Penicuik, but the board of Penicuik First have now agreed to purchase an additional 40 baskets to add further colour and vibrancy to the town centre.

Last year, Penicuik became the 32nd town in Scotland, and the first in Midlothian, to form a Business Improvement District (BID) with the launch of Penicuik First.

As a result, local shops and businesses are now being encouraged to play their part by putting up brackets for the additional baskets and help to brighten up Penicuik town centre.

Continuing on the topic of plans to improve the local area and Midlothian Council will submit a bid to Historic Scotland for funding for a Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (CARS) for Penicuik.
