Time to have some fun!

Funbox Pirate Party - Mudfest 2017

The full line up of performers at Midfest – Midlothian’s Family Fun Day – has been announced.

Confirmed acts and the running order have now been released ahead of the event at Dalkeith Country Park this Sunday, 3 September.

Fantastic acts

This year looks set to be another great day for all the family with the return of live kids show FUNBOX, featuring former members of The Singing Kettle, among a number of fantastic acts lined up.

FUNBOX’s Gary Coupland, who lives in Loanhead, said:

“We are delighted to be performing our show at Midfest! The event has become such a great family festival and the atmosphere ranks up there with Cambridge and Belladrum festivals in our eyes.”

Pirate Party

“This year we will be performing Pirate Party which features favourites like ‘Over The Irish Sea’ and ‘What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor’ so join the fun and come dressed as a Pirate!”

Other acts performing on the Main Stage include The Funktones, Electric Soul Project, No Quarter and Hotel California while The Ceilidh Effect and Hamish Misselbrook will perform on the Acoustic Stage.

Ara Grigor of The Funktones said:

"We are really excited to be playing our first Midfest! There are so many great acts in one place and we can’t wait to get on the stage – let's do this!"

There will also be an array of fairground attractions, arts and crafts stalls, food and drink stands and a Community Safety Village.

Community Safety Village

The Community Safety Village will be on hand with a range of information and exhibitions on everything from crime prevention, prevention of falls, child safety, positive parenting, elderly safety and how to be a good neighbour.

As well as comprehensive safety advice, there will also be the chance to win a wide range of safety items including padlocks, bike locks, cycle wrist bands and property marking kits.

Other organisations with a presence at Midfest 2017 include the National Mining Museum Scotland, the Midlothian Science Festival and Midlothian Kinship Carers.
