A great achievement
This is recognition of the school’s achievement in putting sport at the heart of its planning practice and ethos. The award was officially presented by sportscotland on Friday 9 November.
Hard work and commitment
Laura Cameron, the Head Teacher at Cornbank Primary, said: “Our Gold sportscotland Award is a fantastic recognition of all the hard work, commitment and effort from everyone within our Cornbank Community. I am extremely proud of all of our pupils, staff, parents and partners who have worked so hard to inspire our learners to participate in many different sporting activities and events. I would like to thank our ‘Health and Sport Group’ who have supported the school in order to achieve this award.”
Encouraging young people to participate
Cornbank has shown excellent practice across the core areas of the award and demonstrated an on-going commitment to increase young people’s opportunities and engagement in physical education, school sport and leadership and provide clear pathways to life-long participation in sport.
An inspiring speech
During the awards ceremony ex pupil Lucy Horn gave an inspirational speech to pupils outlining her achievements, her sporting journey and her role as Young Ambassador. After the ceremony, the whole school was involved in rugby, football, hockey and karate sessions with local coaches. There are many people involved in our work including pupils, parents, school staff, Active Schools, sports coaches and sportscotland. The school is extremely proud of this fantastic achievement and have already started work on its development plan.
