Paradykes pupils agreed the new play area on the site of the old school is the “best park ever” when they came along to help with the official opening.

New play area

Part of the Loanhead Centre development, the new play area cost more than £180,000. It replaces the former facility beside Loanhead Leisure Centre, which was removed to allow construction of the new primary school.

Suitable for everyone

A range of different equipment suitable for children of all ages and abilities has been installed.

What the children want

Funded from developer contributions, the project was developed by the council’s Land and Countryside Service. Staff did an extensive community consultation on types of equipment children would like to see in the play area.

Safe, fun and adventurous

Cabinet member for Commercial Operations, Councillor John Hackett, said: “The local community were keen to see wooden equipment with a natural look that also supports children with additional needs in the new play area in Loanhead.

“I am therefore delighted that we have been able to deliver this while at the same time being a safe, fun and adventurous environment for children to play in. I’m sure the play area will be a great asset for the local community for many years to come.”

Best park ever

Paradykes pupil Roxy Purcell said the park was “amazing” while Zahra Mohammed said the new play area was “the best park ever”.
