Do you know a creative young person ?

Do you know a creative young person or group in Midlothian?

Perhaps they are artistic and have had their work exhibited? They could be musical and play in an orchestra, perform as a choir or sing in a band. They may have been involved in performances showcasing their impressive dance or acting skills. Maybe you know a young writer who is having some literary success. If you think they deserve some recognition for what they have achieved then nominate them for the Arts and Culture Award in Midlothian’s Young Person Awards 2019.

Exhibition success for 2018 winners

Last year this award was won by the National Mining Museum Scotland’s Youth Panel. The panel consisting of volunteers aged between 16 – 26 works with different generations to share knowledge about Scotland’s mining heritage. They won the award for their exhibition “Coal Generation: Queens, Teens and Life Outside the Mines” which looked at mining through the decades. The entire exhibition was created by the Youth Panel who decided on content, selected photos and designed and installed it. This unique exhibition has been seen by hundreds of visitors.
