The production will be streamed on the Midlothian Council Facebook page from 7pm.
Weeks of rehearsal
The primary and secondary pupils have been rehearsing for weeks with the help of their instructors.
Midlothian Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Councillor Jim Muirhead said: “People across Midlothian have gone above and beyond to help during the pandemic.
“What could be better than sitting down and taking some time for ourselves by tuning in to this musical celebration?
“Hats off to our fantastic technical and music teams for pulling this off. There’s been a vast amount of work and logistics involved in getting this project off the ground. Hearing this many primary and secondary pupils playing together online will be an amazing experience, which I’m sure we are all looking forward to.”
The pupils all either recorded or made a video of their performance which has then been edited into one concert by the Digital Learning Team.
Doing the honours
Live on the night and the compere for the evening will be Colin McCabe, from the team. He said: “The edited concert sounds fantastic, there’s everything from jazz to classical pieces and a bit of pop music. All we need now is for my compering to meet the same standard. No pressure.”
