Reading challenge winners announced
Winners of a Midlothian Libraries prize draw have been announced.
A full events programme ran over the summer months to support children with the annual Summer Reading Challenge. Over 800 children signed up to the Challenge and joined in activities and events at their local library.
The name of this year’s challenge was 'Gadgeteers' and celebrated science and innovation, as well as the key role of imagination in both reading and the sciences. It was developed in collaboration with the Science Museum Group, to help children unleash their curiosity and creativity.
Libraries partnered with the University of Edinburgh to bring lots of science and engineering events into libraries.
A Library Passport was created that was stamped for every event or activity that young people attended and after four visits they were in with a chance to win one a LEGO prize.
Depute Provost Cllr Connor McManus attended a special event at Midlothian Library to draw the winners of the Lego prizes.
- First place - Odran Speedie. from Loanhead
- Second place - Tristan Mroczkowski from Gorebridge.
- Third place - Jemma Davidson from Penicuik.
Well done to all the participants of the reading challenge and congratulations to the winners.
