Reading challenge winners announced

Winners of a Midlothian Libraries prize draw have been announced.

Activities

A full events programme ran over the summer months to support children with the annual Summer Reading Challenge. Over 800 children signed up to the Challenge and joined in activities and events at their local library. 

Celebrating science

The name of this year’s challenge was 'Gadgeteers' and celebrated science and innovation, as well as the key role of imagination in both reading and the sciences. It was developed in collaboration with the Science Museum Group, to help children unleash their curiosity and creativity.

University

Libraries partnered with the University of Edinburgh to bring lots of science and engineering events into libraries.

Passport

A Library Passport was created that was stamped for every event or activity that young people attended and after four visits they were in with a chance to win one a LEGO prize.

Prize draw

Depute Provost Cllr Connor McManus attended a special event at Midlothian Library to draw the winners of the Lego prizes.

Winners

  • First place - Odran Speedie. from Loanhead
  • Second place - Tristan Mroczkowski from Gorebridge.
  • Third place - Jemma Davidson from Penicuik.
