Community Planning in Midlothian

Citizens' Panel

Midlothian Citizens' Panel Consultation

The Midlothian Citizens’ Panel consultation is now open. We’re asking residents to share their views on the priority themes that will shape the next Vision 2050: Single Midlothian Plan, 2027–2030, which covers themes such as children and families, health, climate resilience, community safety, employability, cost of living, and more.

If you sign up to the Midlothian Citizens’ Panel, you will receive the consultation - either online or by post. This is your chance to have your say on the issues that matter most in your community and will shape it for years to come.

Registration is open to join the Midlothian Citizens' Panel to anyone aged 16+ living in Midlothian:

Those aged 11-17 can also take part by joining the Midlothian Young Citizens' Panel. Please note under 16s will require consent from their parent or guardian to join.

Upcoming Community Events in June

People who live or work in Midlothian are being invited to help shape the area’s future by taking part in a series of community events this June.

Anyone aged 11 or over is encouraged to attend and share their views on Vision 20250: Single Midlothian Plan, 2027–2030, which will set shared priorities for improving the lives of local people.

Why we have a Citizens' Panel

The Citizens’ Panel is one way Midlothian Community Planning Partnership (MCPP) hears from local residents.

MCPP brings together public and third sector organisations to work with communities and plan services that deliver better outcomes for people.

Community planning, under the Community Empowerment Act, is about public bodies and communities working together to identify local needs and improve outcomes. Partnerships create Local Outcomes Improvement Plans and Locality Plans to tackle inequalities. This approach gives communities a stronger voice, making services more responsive and fair.
