What bus services can I use?
Frequent Lothian Bus services 29, 48, X29 and Borders Bus X95 link Newtongrange to Edinburgh city centre, Gorebridge, Danderhall, Silverknowes, Dalkeith town centre, Woodburn and Musselburgh, giving you a chance to visit local attractions or have a day out.
Note: Bicycles are not permitted on Lothian/East Lothian buses with the exception of folding bicycles if they can be stored in luggage areas on the bus.

Borders Railway and station
The Borders Railway is a great way to incorporate active travel into your longer journeys. No bike reservation tickets are required to bring your bike onboard, making it easier and more flexible to take your bike with you to explore Midlothian and beyond.

Newtongrange Train Station
Newtongrange town centre and the Scottish Mining Museum are within a 5 min walk from the railway station. The closest bus stop is located on Main Street, within a 3 min walk from the station. This can be accessed via the steps leading to Murderdean Road, walking South-East and turning left.
