What if I disagree with the decision

If you do not agree with our decision, you may ask us to look at our decision again. We call this a review.

Request a review

If you are not happy with our decision when you receive it in writing then you can ask us to look at it again.

To request a review you should write to us within 20 working days of the date of our letter stating the reason(s) for you disagreeing with the decision and provide any additional information/documentation you think is relevant. Please ensure you sign this request.

A different decision maker will then re-consider your application and advise you of their decision.

  • For Crisis Grants we aim to do this within 2 working days of us receiving your request for a review.
  • For a Community Care Grant decision, we aim to carry out the review within 15 working days of the date we receive your review request.

You will receive written confirmation of the outcome of a review request.  In addition, if you have challenged a Crisis Grant application decision, we will call you by phone to let you know the decision as well as providing a written confirmation.

Request a second review

If you still disagree with our decision, you can ask the Scottish Public Services Ombudsman to look at your case. You must do this within one month of the date of the first review decision. You can ask for a review on their website, or call their freephone number
