Citizenship ceremonies

Midlothian Council will only receive your Naturalisation Certificate if you have chosen to have your ceremony here.

If you have recently changed your address, please notify the Home Office as soon as possible so we can receive instruction from them.

When you receive your invitation from the Home Office regarding your citizenship:

We will then contact you to book a date for your ceremony.

At the ceremony

At the start of the ceremony, we will ask you to show:

  • your Home Office invitation
  • photographic ID.

After the ceremony

We will post your certificate by Royal Mail Tracking Service to the address we have on file for you.

If the address is for a lawyer, solicitor or immigration company, it will go to their address. You can then collect it from them.
