Head for the library to have your say

Making our services fit for the future

With much less government funding at a time of growing demand, Midlothian Council wants to transform its services to make them fit for the future.  The Shaping our Future campaign gives local people the chance to have their say on how services should be reshaped to meet these challenges.

The year-long consultation was launched online at the beginning of February, with locals encouraged to visit the council website and to email comments and suggestions to haveyoursay@midlothian.gov.uk

Comment cards available in local libraries

Those without a computer can still take part in the consultation – either by using the free public access computers available in local libraries or by writing to Have Your Say, Midlothian Council, Midlothian House, Buccleuch Street EH22 1DN.  Special ‘comment cards’ are also available in libraries and at council reception desks, which give details of the consultation and allow customers to express their views.  Once completed, these cards can simply be handed in to a library or a council customer service desk anywhere in Midlothian.

Get involved in Shaping our Future

“Every council service is looking at what it does, how much it costs, how it performs, and how it could be changed and improved,” said council leader, councillor Catherine Johnstone. “But we also need local people to have their say and to get involved in shaping Midlothian’s future.”

More information is available on the Shaping our Future web pages. You can also email haveyoursay@midlothian.gov.uk or phone 0131 271 3178.
