Would you like a career in fostering?
Imagine a child or young person whose life has been unsettled. They may have been neglected or experienced some form of loss. Now imagine how you can change their life and yours by fostering.
We need foster carers
Here at Midlothian Council, we are actively recruiting foster carers by holding two drop-in events. The first is on Monday 16 April between 17:00 and 20:00 at Dalkeith Corn Exchange, EH22 1AZ.
Find out about the rewards and training
The second is at Gorebridge Primary School, EH23 4XA, on Thursday 19 April, again between 17:00 and 20:00. Come along and have a chat with our family placement team about the ongoing support, rewards and training that come with a career in fostering.
You can make a huge impact
Councillor Jim Muirhead, Midlothian Council’s cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Being a foster carer is a challenge but very rewarding. You can make a huge impact on a child’s life by giving them a stable and loving home.
“If a child or young person cannot live with their birth family, they are cared for, if possible, within their own communities. Being looked after by foster carers is a huge change in any child’s life. We try to make sure, therefore, that they can go to the same school and still see friends and family. We cannot however do this on our own. We need your help."
Please get in touch
Councillor Muirhead added: “If you are even thinking about fostering then please drop in and see the team at the venues listed or alternatively contact us on this number - 0131 271 3413 - to find out more. It could be life changing.”
