Message from Chief Executive, Dr Grace Vickers
Further to my message last night, I wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who are well and in work today. You are now carrying out an essential role as Category 1 Responders.
I know it feels different today as many more in our communities self-isolate and, as we adhere to the Social Distancing guidelines, our communities feel eerily quiet. Please know that I am so proud of you for stepping up – you are literally protecting communities and saving lives. For some of you it may not feel like you are saving lives but please know that, as my essential workers, you really are.
It is likely that there will be more messages from Government to come each day as our fight against Covid-19 continues. So, as long as you are well, you should continue in your role as you are now my essential workers. As the Council is a Category 1 Responder to this public health emergency, our communities - especially our most vulnerable - are relying on us to be there for them. So thank you for stepping up and really being there.
Please be kind, caring and compassionate to each other – this is a difficult and emotional time for all of us. So, since you’re not allowed to give anyone a hug – a kind word will go a long, long way.
For those who are self-isolating or unwell, our thoughts continue to be with you.
