Community Asset Transfer

Information needed to support an application

Demographic information

Consultation

We look for evidence that a wide population of the community has been consulted. This could be through questionnaires, presentations at community council meetings, open days and social media.

If a group already uses the building or land you must work with them to ensure they are fully aware of the proposal and how it will impact them.

Permissions

Planning permission

Agreement to an asset transfer does not imply agreement to planning permission.

If your proposal may involve a change of use or redevelopment then you should contact our planning service on 0131 271 3302 or email development.management@midlothian.gov.uk.

If planning permission is required then any decision to transfer the asset would be subject to the grant of the permission.

Public rights of access

We will seek to protect public rights of access.

Strategic Housing Investment Plan (SHIP)

If a site is identified on our Strategic Housing Investment Plan then it has been identified for future housing development. You will need to contact 0131 271 3713 to make an initial enquiry.
