Support group for men - STRIDE

STRIDE is a group that supports men to build skills for a healthier and safer life.

We help you understand your emotions and make positive changes in a supportive and safe space.

Who we support

We support men to understand why they behave in a certain way and want to make a change.

  • Do you ‘see red’, lose your temper but don’t know why?
  • Do you feel  sick or shaky  doing things other people find easy?
  • Have you been worried about thoughts in your head but don’t want to tell anyone?
  • Do you feel overwhelmed, isolated or low but don’t know where to get help?
  • Do you feel pressure to ‘be a man’?

What we do

We help you understand your behaviour and how to change. Groups are small and there is never any pressure to speak.

  • Learn how to cope with difficult emotions and stressful situations.
  • Build confidence, self-esteem and self-care skills.
  • Learn about trauma, CBT and mindfulness.
  • Talk about masculinity, how it can affect your behaviour, health and wellbeing.
  • Find out about other support - Venture Trust, Access to Industry, Andy’s Men’s Club and Health in Mind.

How to get help

The group runs for 7 weeks on a Wednesday from 2.30-4.30pm in the Arts centre in Dalkeith.

Ask your key worker to refer you.
