Support for people at risk of offending
We offer 1:1 and group support.
- Men's groupwork services
- Spring - support for women at risk of offending
- Your Chance to Change - support for men worried about their abusive behaviour
- Social Work Diversion from prosecution
Support for the Justice system with decisions
After someone has been convicted of an offence, the Court may ask us for information.
- Provide Midlothian Justice Social Work reports to assist Courts in their sentencing decisions.
- Provide reports for the Parole Board to assist in decisions regarding release from prison.
Supervise people in the community
Once someone has been convicted we may support them in the community.
- Supervise Community Payback Orders, Community Service/Probation Orders and prisoners released on post custodial sentences or licences.
- Supervise people on supervised bail, electronic monitoring and structured deferred sentences
- Support the risk management of offenders who pose a risk of harm to the public, an individual or to themselves through Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements.
- Develop risk management plans for prisoners returning to the community in liaison with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
Support for people in prison and when they are released
- Offer voluntary throughcare through Upside and our team.
Support for the families of prisoners, victims of crime and those attending Court
- Put people in touch with Victim Support Scotland.
How personal information is used by our team
The personal data we collect might include someone's name, date of birth, address, National Insurance Number, or other information that identifies them. If necessary, we might also collect what is called ‘special category' data – that is, sensitive information such as medical/health information.
