Council tenancy

Waiting list report unavailable

Our waiting list report is unavailable for now due to a system upgrade. We cannot advise you on your list positions at the moment.

However, the housing database is working and there's no impact on your application. A specialist is working on the report.

When you are in a good position on the waiting list, rest assured that a housing officer will be in touch. In the meantime, check our allocation policy to ensure you have all the possible points for your circumstances.

We appreciate your understanding and your patience.

Tenancy agreement

Your tenancy agreement is a contract between you and the council.

On starting your tenancy you will be issued with a tenancy agreement along with a Tenants Handbook which contains useful information that you may need during your tenancy.

Termination of tenancy

Apply to terminate your council tenancy by downloading, completing and returning the document below. You will need to give 28 days notice.

If you are married, in a civil partnership or live with a partner, we will need their agreement before ending the tenancy.

The above document must be signed and returned as soon as possible. You can post the completed document to us at the address below, hand it into the housing office in person, or scan and email your notification to the email address below.

  • Please return keys before noon on the Monday after the tenancy end date. If not, you will be charged another week's rent.
  • If you do not wish to end your tenancy on that date, you can apply for an extension.
  • If you receive Housing Benefit/Universal Credit, please contact Revenues and Benefits on 0131 271 3201 for advice.
