Certification and discounts
Approved certification schemes
The certification system permits suitably qualified, experienced and approved building professionals and tradesmen to be responsible for ensuring that specified works comply with building regulations.
Two certification schemes are approved by the Scottish Government:
Certification of Design
Members (usually structural engineers and energy assessors) design and issue certification for the Structures and/or Energy components of your building work.
Certification of Construction
Members (usually electricians and plumbers) undertake work and issue certification for electrical installations and/or drainage/heating/plumbing.

- SELECT - Electrical scheme member
- SNIPEF - Drainage, plumbing and heating scheme member

Discounts
Discounts are applied to the building warrant application fee if you choose to submit Certificates of Design or Certificates of Construction.
