The programme offers an unprecedented opportunity for you to increase your business by working with tour operators to access UK and overseas markets. Retail Travel Agents, Tour Wholesalers and Inbound Tour Operators are on the lookout for quality products that they can package and sell; they’re also the major access and distribution route to overseas markets – whether in North America, Europe or elsewhere in the UK. If you are ready to work with tour operators, then this programme will equip you to build your business.
We want to increase overseas visitors
Tourism across Midlothian and the Borders is the region’s biggest industry: it’s worth over £350m p.a., delivers 2m bed nights and supports over 5,700 jobs, yet we’re still reliant on day visitors and staying visitors from within Scotland. We want to increase the number of UK and overseas visitors and help businesses expand.

Midlothian and Borders Tourism Action Group is funding the GOING BEYOND: Developing Your International Tourism Markets to be able to offer 35 PLACES on the programme.
There will be a series of 4 workshops
There will be a series of 4 workshops to be held at Peebles Hydro on October 24th/ November 21st/ December 5th 2017 and January 9th 2018, all morning workshops designed specifically for tourism businesses looking to take a proactive approach to developing or growing their international tourism markets. Specifically, the workshops cover the key areas for developing international tourism markets, including market analysis, routes to markets, working effectively with the travel trade, international marketing and social media.
The workshops will be complemented with an inbound familiarisation visit for tour operators planned in spring 2018 along with involvement at EXPO 2018 in Glasgow.
