Community Asset Transfer
A Community Asset Transfer is the transfer of responsibility for an asset from the council to a community group or organisation.
This can be a transfer of the ownership or a lease.
Transfers must meet the objectives in our Single Midlothian Plan and benefit the community.
Before you apply
Applying for a transfer can be a big task and the whole process can take around 18 months.

How to apply
- Contact us for information about the asset and to arrange access.
- Check if anyone else has requested a transfer
- Ensure you have the information needed
No appeals will be considered before the recommendations have gone to the Community Asset Transfer Committee. If a Community Transfer Body is not happy with the decision then they can follow the appeal process.
