Christmas tree recycling

Midlothian Council does not offer a separate kerbside collection of real Christmas trees.

Recycling Centre 

• Your can recycle real Christmas trees in the garden waste skip at your local Recycling Centre.

Brown bin

• Christmas trees can be collected as part of your brown bin collection service - please ensure they are cut up and there are no large logs or trunks.
• This service restarts in March 2026.

Bulky uplift

• We can collect Christmas trees at the kerbside as part of a bulky waste uplift.
• Please select "Christmas tree" under the "Furniture and Furnishings" category.
• The charge is from £30 for up to 6 standard household items.
• This service restarts from 12 January 2026.
