Waste service updates
In bad weather, or other situations outside our control, there may be a delay in collecting your waste.
Food waste caddy liners
Due to an issue with our supplier, we are currently out of stock of replacement food waste caddy liners.
You do not need to use council-supplied bags in your caddy. You can use bin liners, or other plastic bags such as bread bags or frozen vegetable bags to contain your waste.
Penicuik Recycling Centre
The waste compactor at Penicuik Recycling Centre is out of action. Please take mattresses and large soft furniture, such as a sofa or three piece suite, to Stobhill Recycling Centre instead. We apologise for any inconvenience.
We are no longer accepting rubble at Penicuik Recycling Centre. Please take rubble and ceramics to Stobhill instead.
Paper recycling banks
In April 2017 paper banks in Midlothian were removed. Less paper being collected and more contamination means it is no longer viable for our contractor to offer this service.
All clean and dry paper, card and cardboard can be recycled in your blue bin or local Household Waste Recycling Centre.
Shredded paper should be securely tied in a clear plastic bag before being placed in your blue bin.
