Recycling your business waste
All business in Scotland are required by law to separate materials for recycling.
If you have a residual waste contract with us, we can also collect your recycling.
We collect:
- paper / cardboard
- plastic bottles
- food / drink cans
- foil (must be clean, dry and free from food contamination)
- aerosol cans
- cartons (such as Tetra Pak cartons)
- plastic pots, tubs, punnets and trays (food and drink containers only)

Glass recycling
We can also collect glass bottles and jars.
Food waste
If your business produces more than 5kg of food waste per week, you must put this out for collection separately.
This applies wherever food is manufactured, including canteens, kitchens, schools, restaurants and supermarkets.
Keenan's Recycling offer a food waste collection service in Midlothian. Collections are weekly in a 120L or 240L sized bin, or a 23L external caddy. Internal bins and bin liners are also available.
As part of this service you can recycle:
- fruit and vegetable peelings
- bread and cakes
- pasta and rice
- cheese and dairy products
- tea bags and coffee grinds
- egg shells
- chicken, meat and fish
- meat and fish bones
- paper napkins
- plate scrapings
